Polyurethane grips were first introduced to the golf industry by Winn Grips in the last 1990s. Since then, other companies have help golfers enjoy the success of these types of grips including SuperStroke and JumboMax. Karma Grips has offered a few polyurethane grips for nearly 20 years, and we have recently expanded our range with a new series called Softy.
Polyurethane golf grips (also known as polymer golf grips) are best known for their slip resistant and shock absorbing properties from wrap style to colorful and multi-textured designs. While these are sold as a one-piece slip-on grip, they are constructed from two different components. They start with a soft, tacky synthetic polyurethane outer layer which gives them their exceptional feel. Beneath the surface, there are either a firm rubber or a lightweight EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) inner core for stability. The latter is what most jumbo polyurethane putter grips are made from to keep their overall weight down.
